(Saturday, December 29) At dusk and loooooong before dawn(~4:30am) the monkeys are in the trees calling to each other. They sound like exotic birds, with whistles. The roosters are DEFINITELY up that early and something sounds like piglet squeals. It sounds like we spent the night in a zoo. The pictures I posted earlier of the hotel is where we stayed Friday night. Around 5:15 the very familiar sound of rain quieted the monkeys for the 10 minutes while it rained. It rained and stopped 3 times in the first 14 hours of being in Costa Rica. I’m glad we came in the dry season…(which it is, by the way). The hotel was more like a motel and it feels like we’re at the lake. The windows didn’t have screens and remain open all night for airflow. That means we can hear everything going on in the street below. The sleeping arrangements were quite comfortable.
